Dodda-mane

Dodda-mane (Big House in Kannada) is a big house belongs to traditional brahmin family in Agumbe. It is like a travelers house where you will get accommodation and food for trekkers from Kasturiakka family. The serial Malgudi days (Stories by RK Narayan) which was telecasted in Doordarshan has been shot in this house. The family won't charge anything for food and accommodation, their will take as much as you can give. Its like a destination for trekkers to western ghats. Here photo of mine with kasturiakka.....

Abraham Lincoln's letter to his son's teacher

When I am in MBA, Teaching fish director shashank sir gave me this document.....really good and I love to read it........again and again....

He will have to learn, I know,
that all men are not just,
all men are not true.
But teach him also that
for every scoundrel there is a hero;
that for every selfish Politician,
there is a dedicated leader...
Teach him for every enemy there is a
friend,

Steer him away from envy,
if you can,
teach him the secret of
quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that
the bullies are the easiest to lick... Teach him, if you can,
the wonder of books...
But also give him quiet time
to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky,
bees in the sun,
and the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him
it is far honourable to fail
than to cheat...
Teach him to have faith
in his own ideas,
even if everyone tells him
they are wrong...
Teach him to be gentle
with gentle people,
and tough with the tough.

Try to give my son
the strength not to follow the crowd
when everyone is getting on the band wagon...
Teach him to listen to all men...
but teach him also to filter
all he hears on a screen of truth,
and take only the good
that comes through.

Teach him if you can,
how to laugh when he is sad...
Teach him there is no shame in tears,
Teach him to scoff at cynics
and to beware of too much sweetness...
Teach him to sell his brawn
and brain to the highest bidders
but never to put a price-tag
on his heart and soul.

Teach him to close his ears
to a howling mob
and to stand and fight
if he thinks he's right.
Treat him gently,
but do not cuddle him,
because only the test
of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have the courage
to be impatient...
let him have the patience to be brave.
Teach him always
to have sublime faith in himself,
because then he will have
sublime faith in mankind.

This is a big order,
but see what you can do...
He is such a fine fellow,
my son!

Carnatic Music

I had great love of reading chetan bhagat books, I read the book "Two states - the story of my marriage" in Jan 2010. In that book, the girl, Ananya is from Tamilnandu and it was well explained in the book about the culture of Tamilian Brahmins and Carnatic Music. While reading that book, it gave me a nice impression about Carnatic Music, where the girl mother practice Carnatic Music. From then I gave a try to Carnatic Music, with first song "Vaishanava Janato" by MS Subbalakshmi. It was really good and I started listening to others songs sung by Mahanadhi Shobha, Sudha Raghunathan...........

Srirangapatnam!!

We started around 40 clock from Mysore to go to Sirirangapatnam. It is small town near to Mysore, about 16 km from there. We reached there around 5:30 pm and straight away we went to "Sri Raganatha Swamy Temple". It was a very old temple, by seeing it only you can make it out and you will find quite good number of foreigners. Apart from them we hav Tippu Sultan palace and tomb, but there were closed by 6 pm. So it was not possible for us to see those place. So we four walked through the streets of Srirangapatnam. While going through the streets, what i have noticed it that very street has a historical monument and it was like the town surrounded by old ruined fort wallpapers. We had a very nice walk around the town and finally reached the town bus stand and got bus around 7:30pm to Bangalore.....

Thats how the visit of my three friends was accomplished....one more day is left for us i.e., 3 Jan 2010, sunday.......but this is how it officially ends.

Mysore Trip!!

On 1st jan we planned to go to Mysore, we started here in Bangalore at 11 0'clock and got into Mysore bus around 12:30pm. We thought Mysore is every near to Bangalore like around two hours journey, but it took more than three hours and we reached there at 3:30 pm. As and when we got down we had lunch and started searching for room. After searching for one hour finally we settled in one lodge and we freshed up in one hour and came out by 6 pm.

Our plan is to see Palace in lighting's so we reached there at 6:15. For our bad luck, the palace is opened till 5:30 pm for visitors. We thought we were screwed on that day. While entering into Mysore, we saw one church and with no second thought we decided to go there. That church is St.Philomena church, where the movie Amar-Akbar- Anthony was shooted. The walls of church were very tall, u will notice the artistic work and it is very beautiful. After we roamed around the city for almost like two hours by watching people, road and all. Fortunately we saw another entrance of the Palace with wadyar statue in front and some temples, actually palace had three gates this is one of them. It was really superb and amazing, from this view it is so beautiful. I was really happy to be there at that time. The lights of palace were turning off around at 10 pm and we came back to room.

Next day, 2nd Jan we decided to make it worthful, we woke up at 4:30 and came out by 6 am. Our first place on list is Chamundi temple and straight away we went to city bus stand. we went to bus stand by walk, during that we thought it is good to settle down in mysore. The roads were really big and the whole city is around the palace. You will definitely find platforms on every road and you will notice the artistic work everywhere. we got bus to chamundi hill and after darshan me and Sunil went to zoo. Madhu and nag went to Mysore Infosys DC.

Around, 9 am me and sunil entered into zoo, it was really superb i didn't expect so much. I'll say Mysore zoo is far better than Bannergatta National Park in Bangalore. Yaar, u can see tiger and all very close in this zoo, where in BNP you need to pay 140 bucks and time waste for safari. Sunil was so happy because first time in his life he went to Zoo, that to such a big one. I am really happy for visiting zoo. We came out of the zoo, waiting for a bus to go to Palace. But this bugger sunil made arrangement for horse cart. I felt shy at first and later i decided to go by cart. As my first experience in horse cart, i really felt thrill.

We four met at Palace and saw the palace in 2 hours, we came out by 3pm. In Palace u will definitely notice the Main hall, Bronze leopards and big Darbar facing the main entrance of the palace. We came back to room and started journey for Srirangapatnam!! Finally places to see in Mysore : - 1) Chamundi Hill/Temple 2) Mysore Palace 3) Mysore Zoo 4) Brindavan gardens 5) St.philomena churuch Its always better to hire a cab to see all the places in one day

A Visit....!!!

On 30th Dec, my loyola friends Madhu, Sunil and Nag came to bangalore. We studied degree in Andhra Loyola College and we really had a great time in loyola. From those days we are being planning to go for a trip. Atlast after 3 1/2 years we worked it out for this new year. I showed them around bangalore, places like Lal bagh, ISCON etc. On 31st we went to brigade for pub, even 30th night these guys already went there and emptied their pockets. After done with Brigade pubs, around 10'O clock we came to a pub in marathahalli. There the real fun started, we had few beers.. music was too good nag and sunil can't resist to dance...we don't know exactly what happened afterwards...hardly i remebered..i went to dance for couple of times..some tragedy between we four....fighting...crackers...something...something..and around at 1 0'CLOCK we came out of the pub. We are on the way to my room, passing the streets and in between we stopped for ice cream. Finally we reached home by 1:30 and slept happy. The thing is we didn't say "Happy new year" to eachother. And early morning on 1st, we realized that sunil had small leg injury and we had a plan to go to mysore!!!
